What Wednesdays are for…

I don’t know why I did this, but I set up on my white board an intention for every day of the week.

For example, “Mondays are for ME”. I highly, highly suggest you begin to practice a new kind of “Tithing”.
Now before you run to the exits, this is NOT an Evangelical Christian Tithing Sermon…

It IS a Transformational, Mind Mastery Dose of Practical GROOVINESS for your personal mastery mission…

This is about “Tithing” of your time, talent and treasure, but it HAS to start with YOU.

Give to yourself first. This is NOT selfishness. And “Mondays are for Me” is a perfect example. When I take my mondays and really rest, really take care of me and my need for quiet, meditative, restorative time, I have so much more to give to YOU the rest of the week.

So in my schedule, “Mondays are for Me”. You can pick a different day of the week but in my mind, setting aside Mondays for self care and rest is one of the best gifts I can give to the people I love… The entire rest of the week follows… Now many people do that on Sundays, but I work all day on Sundays so Mondays are MY day of rest. (But this message isn’t about Mondays…)

Tuesdays are for TRANSFORMATION… and if you read yesterday’s email/blog post you already know that Transformation Tuesdays are coming! (But THIS message ain’t about Tuesdays so enuf said for now)

But Wednesdays!

WONDERFUL, WEDNESDAYS!

The popular culture calls it “hump day”. The day you get over the hump of the work week and can see the weekend beckoning… And I guess for the cubicle slaves of the world “hump day” gives them some kind of hope… However, I prefer to focus on something a bit different today…

How about… WHY DOES IT WORK OUT BETTER THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE WEDNESDAYS?

W.D.I.W.O.B.T.Y.C.P.I. WEDNESDAYS for short.

What if, every Wednesday morning you started out by writing that power phrase over and over again by hand? And then chanted it all day in your mind?

What would happen if you purposefully and consciously practiced this one little thing every Wednesday?
Seriously! For your own practice pop it into the first person and ask away.

Why Does It Work Out Better Than I Can Possibly Imagine?

Here’s an example: A very dear friend of mine had an ominous email exchange with her boss over the weekend… It seemed so ominous on Saturday that when her boss said… “We have to talk first thing on Monday Morning”… she went a bit into panic mode… and what is pretty cool is that her anxiety response was actually pretty damn productive, she explored the notion that on Monday she would have no job…

So rather than sit around freaking out, she dusted off her resume and reflected on all the skills and assets she has to offer in both the corporate and academic markets and came up with 3 alternative contingency plans so that no matter what, she would be ok with or without her job.

And then? She started breathing, grounding and focusing her mind on:

WHY Does It Work Out Better Than I Can Possibly Imagine?
Why DOES it work out better than I can possibly imagine?
Whey Does IT work out better than I can possibly Imagine?
Why does it WORK OUT better than I can possibly imagine?
Why does it work out BETTER than I can possibly imagine?
Why does it work out better than I CAN possibly imagine?
Why does it work out better than I can POSSIBLY imagine?
Why does it work out better than I can possibly IMAGINE?

And so on… over and over. Heck, I chanted it with her. And I started feeling fabulous as well.
And then she went on to have a fabulous weekend.

Monday, she went in and her boss was completely reasonable, supportive and appreciative of her…
There was no conflict. Just a bit of clarification that had to be talked about in person. No biggie.

Interesting huh?

So you might want to actually put this one into practice. It’s simple. It’s free. It’s accessible anywhere
and it works. It’s also just one of the gazillion mind mastery tools I teach in “How To CRUSH anxiety NOW!”

So that’s your assignment for today (should you choose to accept it). It’s one that just might be revisited on Wednesdays to come.

Why it Works:

It works because it helps to shift your focus, it changes your energy, your bio-chemistry and the presuppositions in the question engage your unconscious mind to filter reality according to the question.

Any thoughts that do not match the presupposition simply get filtered out.

Your Unconscious Mind simply can NOT not filter your reality according to that powerful question. It simply has to accept it and build evidence to verify its truth.

A Jolt of “G” for You Today!

Today’s Mind Mastery “technique” is ancient and ridiculously simple.

I call it a Jolt of “G”.

“G” of course refers to “GRATITUDE” my beloved Dudes and Dudettes!

Gratitude is actually an extremely accessible form of self hypnosis. You can do it any time, any place.

For your listening support, I offer you this “wide awake” hypnosis session in song:  

As my musical mentor Roger Mock pointed on in one of his talks at Unity, Gratitude and a positive attitude in the face of events that appear on the surface to be “Not positive”, IS “Pollyanna”.

Pollyanna has gotten a bad rap.

He reminded us that Pollyanna was not a sickly sweet, pie in the sky, idiot wandering around blathering inane positivities. She was an orphan dealing with some intense loss and hardship and she managed to keep her “sh#t” together by relentlessly focusing on what she was grateful for and what was good in her life.

People laughed at her and eventually she couldn’t sustain her gratitude in the face of the overwhelming obstacles she was confronted with in her life.

So the people that didn’t quite believe in the idea, came to her aid and supported her with THEIR positive thoughts and gratefulness. And THEY found it useful and empowering and transformative…

The bottom line is that Gratitude is useful.

Not because it’s “NICE” but because it quite literally changes the bio-chemistry of the body for the better. It triggers resourcefulness and personal empowerment.

When you are in an attitude of gratitude you are focusing your mind on what is right, what is good, what is positive, as well as how blessed, prosperous and loved you are.

The other choice is to focus on lack, deprivation, hard luck, and how lonely you might be.

Personally I prefer to feel good. The more I focus on how blessed I am the more blessed I seem to be… funny how that works huh?

So your assignment today (should you choose to accept it) is to take a moment and make a list of 10 things you are grateful for in your life right now (overachievers can do more if you want).

I’ll go first:

  1. I’m grateful for the internet so I can share my music and ideas with people all over the world like YOU.
  2. I’m grateful for my family
  3. I’m grateful for my friends
  4. I’m grateful for Leila the Labrador Retriever I’m taking care of while my friend Mike is away.
  5. I’m grateful for the ability to walk and move my body
  6. I’m grateful for my clients
  7. I’m grateful for YOU my beloved readers and members at large of the growing “Transformation Nation”
  8. I’m grateful for my songwriting compulsion
  9. I’m grateful for the food I had for breakfast
  10. I’m grateful for simply being able to be alive and filled with wonder about being alive to being alive!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH…. So simple. Yet so powerful. Please do this little exercise. You can continue it throughout the day… You might want to see if you can get up to 100 by the end of your day… and guess what? you can repeat things you are grateful for. It’s impossible to cheat at this. :o)

  • I’m grateful that SOMEONE other than me wants to run for president cuz I certainly prefer not to.
  • I’m grateful that there are people everywhere pursuing their passion and making a positive difference in the world…

to be honest, once you get going with this gratitude stuff it’s kind of hard to stop… but why would you even want to? Just keep going.

Focus & Meaning Rap

Surprise! a VERY short video for you today.

With a new song that is just now moving through me…

Inspired by what I talked about in yesterday’s video/blog post about Dr. Donnie Epstein…

Grounded in the idea that the only two things we humans can control in our world is

1. Where we are focusing our attention or What we are focusing ON…

and…

2. What meaning we give to whatever is happening…

To simplify it into a “chant” or “rap”

It becomes a new mantra…

Where is my focus?
What am I making it mean?

Your assignment today is to write this out, whisper it to yourself, chant it, rap it, sing it… all day long and then let me know how your day went.

Got it? Good!

Cool and groovy. I’m outa hear!

(yes you beloved detail oriented “spell checkers out there”, I MEANT to spell here, “Hear” it’s called “Phonological ambiguity” in Ericksonian Conversational Hypnosis…  Sum People call it Punning… But it adds up to something deep going on in your unconscious mind… That’s right… mmm hmmm :o)

The Velveteen Rabbit Song

Speaking of Gratitude and Thanksgiving and what’s really important…

I thought this song might be just the thing for this beautiful drizzly November Saturday… it makes the point that I have been attempting to make in every other video and blog post.

No matter what happens. USE it. The greatest appreciation we need to have is the amazing fact that we are actually here. Alive. Today. The world is amazing! Even if there are hard lessons. Even if things don’t always go the way we think they “should” go.

Even if other people don’t “get” us. Even if they never understand or appreciate us.

Spiritual teacher, Byron Katie talks about “Loving what is.” Most of our stress and anxiety comes from being upset about the way things are. What if we could find gratitude for exactly what is?

How To use this song: Songs are kind of “wide awake hypnosis” The way to get the most out of this “session” is to just play it over and over all day… until it gets “stuck” in your Rostromedial Pre-frontal Cortex… (the place in your brain where songs get stuck).

The Spinach King of South Africa

Hey there Fabulous, Radiant, Brilliant, Visionary, Caring One,

I don’t know if you get as many emails as I do. I’m on a lot of lists.

And today, this sweet, quiet Friday after American Thanksgiving, my “in-box” is full of strident attention seeking subject lines all about this damn “Black Friday” thing.

WTF? It’s actually mass hypnosis. And not pretty. Kind of “Icky” actually.

The frenzy of sales for stuff that we probably don’t even need. The people waking up early and waiting in line to get all their “bargains”. People wrestling in the aisle for some stupid toy that the manufacturers purposely didn’t make enough of and advertised the hell out of so that they would create false scarcity or “demand”. Yuck. Blecch!

Time to interrupt the pattern, the program the ROUTINE!

I’d like to share this short video with you as a little tiny antidote to the insanity.

I hereby nominate Lufefe Nomjana, the Spinach King of South Africa for lifetime membership in the Transformation Nation because he is actually transforming the world. Let’s all do our little part to do the same in some small way in our own small backyards or wherever…

I am so filled with love and compassion for you today my friend. This man so clearly changed his thinking, focuses his mind on his Massive Throbbing Vision for his Life, his Path With Heart, that I want you to see it, feel it, hear it’s message for you in your life.

There is great power in life affirming ideas. There is great transformational power in taking action, step by step towards your worthy goal or purpose.

When everybody else is “zigging”, then perhaps it’s time for us to “Zag.”

Take time to love yourself today enough to begin to write and tell a new story for you.
