Hypnosis For Weight Loss & Fitness

July 17, 2016 by Mark Shepard

Hey! Just For FUN,

Let’s Bust An Old

Weight Loss Hypnosis Myth Today!

[be sure to scroll down for the fabulous video I made for you as well as a very cool weight loss hypnosis SONG]

A lot of people seem to think that if they go to a hypnotist for weight loss (fat loss really), then they won’t have to exercise or change their eating habits… the pounds will somehow, suddenly, just magically melt off…

Somehow after spending an hour with “The Wizard of Oz” they will just magically start to crave only foods that are healthy and slimming and will somehow want to go to the gym every day.

And if that mythical experience doesn’t happen, then they feel justified in blaming the hypnotherapist for their failure to reach their goals.

The reality is that hypnosis is a good way to retrain yourself to stop eating crap, and to actually get yourself to get up off of the couch and move your body but first you have to stop hypnotizing yourself to be the way you’ve always been.

The bottom line is that YOU are the actual hypnotist. The professional trained in hypnosis who you pay money to is actually coaching (or “coaxing” ) you into changing your thoughts. Changing your thoughts changes your behaviors. Changing your behaviors is what actually gets you the results you desire.

Hypnosis is a tool to communicate with your unconscious mind so that your unconscious mind actually starts giving you more of what you want and less of what you don’t want. You are the one doing the actual communicating.

On this journey we encounter a few challenges that really boil down to rejecting the Mass Hypnosis of our dominant cultural patterns.

One challenge is that your unconscious mind is really the “soft animal of your body”. And all us animals are pre-programmed to save energy. Unfortunately resting whenever possible to save energy evolved as our “default” program. And in today’s world of “labor saving devices”, and constant sitting at work, in cars, on the couch etc, we all move our bodies a lot less than in a traditional hunter/gatherer society where we evolved.

Instead of walking 5 miles to get something to eat (or 10 if necessary), we walk 5 steps to the refrigerator or the kitchen cabinet.

Another challenge is that any TV you watch, even if it’s only in the waiting room of your car dealer’s service department, is filled with hypnotic food and beverage ads. And THAT hypnosis is constantly bombarding your little unconscious mind over and over with vibrant, riveting images and stories that promise PLEASURE from food… RELIEF from stress… HAPPINESS with each lip smacking mouthful…

One of the reasons I dislike going to the gym is that they have the televisions blaring all the time… banks and banks of hypnotic media preaching exactly the opposite of what I want to feed my mind while I’m working my body.

The most important message I can convey to you is that YOU are the world’s most powerful hypnotist. Your best approach to cancelling old eating and exercise habits is to learn how to take charge of your own mind.

Careful! There ARE side effects! You might start seeing through all the dominant cultural baloney that “everybody just accepts”. :o)

I’d like to suggest if I may that it might be time for you to Stop allowing random Television strangers (ad agencies and food manufacturers) hypnotize you.

It just might be time for YOU to take charge of your change. I’m not suggesting you Master Your Mind For A Change right this instant. But you certainly might want to consider starting soon… Like today. or Tomorrow… or perhaps this coming Tuesday… You don’t have to change now unless you truly want to with all your heart!

Here’s a short video I made the other night after I worked out… for 5 minutes. Yep. You heard that right. My workouts are about 5 minutes long. The video is even shorter. You could even stretch while you watch it.
(below the video is a song that is actually a weight loss hypnosis session. Yeah really!)

I’m gearing up for my next 90 day challenge and one of the areas I’m personally working on with my body is to lower my body fat percentage. I would like to see my abs. However going form 18% body fat down to the 9% or so that would showcase my “washboard” is a bit of a leap, even for me. So the goal I’m going to set will probably be to move my body fat down to a significant 15%. That’s a bit of a stretch but it still seems “doable”.

So along with my other goals in other areas of my life, this is one I will start using self hypnosis to make into my new reality. What I’m looking for is long term, sustainable health, not some crash diet or crazy workout that might cause me to hurt myself.

If you’d like to go deeper with me in this area of your life, check out my course, “It’s Not Just About The Food!” my online fat loss course. and join us for the 90 day Transformation Tuesday Challenge

Transformation Tune: This is actually a “wide awake” hypnosis session. Play this song over and over and over… As you let it get stuck in your head remember that you are controlling your own unconscious thought patterns in a good way… enjoy.

Want to hear from me almost every day with Mind Mastery Messages and Transformation Tunes? Sign up today!

The really important thing is just to be fully aware that you can realize the change you’re looking for…

What You Missed Last Night

April 20, 2016 by Mark Shepard

TT 04-19-16 ss1Hey Kids,

Just a little taste of the very first “Transformation Tuesday” event.

The turn out was a bit on the small side but it was a great opportunity to test out my new Bose sound system, the daunting challenge of “live streaming” and to explore the concept of music as a healing modality perfectly integrated with hypnosis.

Oh and the stories we tell ourselves…

Special thanks to the brave souls who showed up to experience this “first ever”.

Cowabungah!

– Mark

p.s. Your personal Mind Mastery assignment today (should you choose to accept it) is to pay attention to the “stories” of “I can” in your mind… Turn those UP. Turn down the ones that no longer support you… (and I’m right here with you working on the same assignment LOL)

Here’s one of the most relaxed live versions of “Together We Can Change The World” I’ve ever done :o)

In honor of the NY state Democratic Primary I sang “Freedom”.

Next is my “message” for the evening where I explore the notion of “the stories we tell ourselves that keep us small and miserable and how it’s time to re-write them to reflect our magnificence…”

Then the “meditation” or Hypnosis part of the program…

And the song, “Refuse To Believe Those Lies” that I refer to in the talk.

And finally, “We Shall Live In Light” for that rousing “closer” we all love to groove to as we head back out into our lives… Transformed…

Transformation Tuesday Begins!

April 19, 2016 by Mark Shepard

trans tues big2Hey Everybody!

Today IS Transformation Tuesday!

Yup. I just checked. In fact, it’s Transformation Tuesday all day long and into the night!

How cool is that?

COWABUNGAH!

In case you don’t “religiously” read every single email from me…

TONIGHT we kick off the first  weekly Transformation Tuesday.

What IS “Transformation Tuesday”?

Good question little grasshopper!

Think of it as a

“Music & Meditation Sanctuary for the Spiritual But Not Religious”

or think of it as a

“Personal Mastery and Motivation Meet-Up with Music”

Yes there WILL be Music! – My absolute FAVORITE Spiritual but Not Religious Singer/Songwriter will be there with the “Transformation Tunes” you’ve been clamoring for. Word has it on the “street” that people listen to these songs and literally “change their BRAINS” (in a good way) ;o)

Oh! here’s one of his FABULOUS “Transformation Tunes” now:

(Holy Guacamole he’s GOOOD! ;o)

YES! There will be a Personal Mastery Message to Motivate, Inspire and IGNITE the groovyness within you and support you in mastering your mind for a change.

YES! There will be meditation, aka guided visualization, aka, Ericksonian Conversational Hypnosis... (Be assured it’s totally safe, requires no special equipment and feels FABULOUS!)… to help us FOCUS and “master our minds for a change” in a powerfully positive way for the rest of the week….

YES! There will be gentle “tai chi” like movement that you won’t have to “remember” cuz we make it up on the spot! and it feels soooooooo good and is safe for everyone to try even if you are normally a couch potato!

And Yes! We will have some time to hang out a bit and “Meet UP!” as members of the “Transformation Nation”.

Where?  Unity Church, 21 King Ave, Albany NY
When? Tuesdays 7:00 – 8:30 pm Eastern Time
Cost? A suggested $20 donation
(I’m renting the space from Unity so your support is deeply appreciated to cover costs)

or
“Tune in” online for the live streaming version on Concert Window
(which hopefully will actually work, your patience is much appreciated since I’m about as “technical” as… as… as… a…  guy who can’t quite think of an appropriate analogy at the moment…)

Here’s the link for the online streaming:
https://www.concertwindow.com/markshepard

I hope to see you there tonight!

– Mark

p.s. BTW the 1st 10 people to show up tonight in person will get something very special to commemorate your AWESOMENESS! And I’m working on some bonuses for you folks out there in cyber-land as well.

Better Than Expected

April 18, 2016 by Mark Shepard

317 Better Than Expected origWhy DOES It Work Out Better Than Expected…

I had a lovely weekend exploring the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. From the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge north of Lake Cayuga down to Ithaca and then west to the Finger Lakes National Forest then to Watkins Glen at the southern end of Lake Seneca, my delightful traveling companion and I did a lot of driving and walking and exploring.

Unfortunately in Watkins Glen I didn’t quite manage to negotiate a certain higher than expected curb… and it threatened to “curb my enthusiasm” for a few minutes as I surveyed the “crunch” on the right side of the formerly “cool, sporty ground effects” trim on my car… :o(

So I immediately began chanting my favorite “mind-hack”.

“Why does it work out better than I can possibly imagine?”

“Why does it work out better than I can possibly imagine?”

“Why does it work out better than I can possibly imagine?”

“Why does it work out better than I can possibly imagine?”

This is a conscious shift that I sometimes have to FORCE myself to make. It’s a sad fact of modern life that a little fender bender, bumper crunch can be expensive, not to mention INCONVENIENT…

I felt myself starting to get bummed out by the idea of my insurance company jacking up my rates, as well as time wasted being put on hold and having to make an appointment and give up the use of my car to get the darn thing fixed… blech!

So I said it again. Louder and with a few very satisfying expletives (which I’ll delete here just in case you might be shocked by them LOL)…

“Why does it work out !@#*%^ better  than I can possibly imagine?”

But literally POURING the alternative thought into my neurology of “Why does this work out better than I can possibly imagine?” I began to move me back into my usual joyful state…

I like to imagine that somehow “this is good!”… Perhaps the delay this caused saved our lives somehow… Perhaps this was exactly the reminder I needed to stay in this powerful state of mind. Or maybe I will never know consciously how “this is good.”

Whatever. I’m in charge of my state.

A RESOURCEFUL, positive state is ALWAYS better than being all pissed off and whiny…

And maybe it was all so that I would share this thought and song with you this morning… Maybe YOU need to hear it…

Either way this humorous song bubbled up in my mind as a perfect song to play for you this morning.

Song #317, “Better Than Expected” demonstrates NLP reframing techniques in a way that uses music and humor to install a powerful transformative idea deep into your subconscious mind.

And that idea is this:

The events that seem “bad” or “negative” only seem that way because of our interpretation.

Reframe or re-interpret them as positive and the physiological reaction can be one of positive, transformational empowerment. You may have a few moments of frustration or despair. But with practice you can instantly reframe any situation as a blessing.

Powerful, real life change from listening to a song? Yup. And what’s even cooler?
You can download it for nuthin’ (unless of course you want to pay in which case it definitely works out better than expected for me! ;o)

Now it’s up to you to test it in your own life… Seriously. Give it a shot…

[BTW I played this song for a guy once out of context and he said, “well I don’t really like country music.”

For the record. Just in case it isn’t OBVIOUS. This is a PARODY of a country music song. The cliche music style is part of the humorousness… Do I have to explain EVERYTHING? Sheesh…LOL]

BTW #2: all the instruments (including real TUBA)are played by “Country Joe” Mennonna who is feverishly working on several new arrangements that I will hopefully share with you soon.

Your assignment today, should you choose to accept it, is to Have a fabulous Monday! A Monday that is BETTER than you could have EVER expected! Unless of course you read this post on some other day in which case have whatever day you are having in a way that is better than you can possibly imagine. Ok?

The really important thing is just to be fully aware that you can realize the change you’re looking for…

Focus Focus Focus

April 14, 2016 by Mark Shepard

32264971_mlFocus.

Focus.

Focus.

Focus.

Focus.

I’m pretty sure that if I were to attend elementary school today, I would be labeled as having ADD.

You know the term right? Attention Deficit Disorder.
(personally I don’t see it as a “disorder”. In fact I would re-define it as “Alternative Direction Distinction”)

They would probably want to dose me up with some Riddle-in.
But what they would really need to do is get the Riddle-Out.

I’ve noticed over the years and in my own intensive research observing myself as well as the people who are different from the “norm” (People who are peak performers and outside of the box thinkers) that the truth is we don’t fit in to the convenient cubicles and cubby  holes that our educational system or our dominant culture wants to stick us…

We are different.

And golly gee wiz
VIVA LA Damn DIFFER-ANCE!

One of the major tasks on this adventure is to discover how your own unique quality of focus can support you.

Personally, I am interested in a lot of different subjects. My big stroke of genius for my own sanity was to realize that literally EVERYTHING I’m passionately interested in fits nicely (for the moment) under the sweet umbrella of TRANSFORMATION.

I am constantly challenging myself to explore and expand my knowledge, skills and abilities in several seemingly unrelated fields at once.

Music. I don’t just play one instrument. I sing, I play guitar, piano, African and Irish drums, the French horn, the flute, the didgeridoo etc. Pretty much anything that can make a sound? I will play around with it. And while I’m no prodigy or master of any one of those instruments, I AM a master of writing songs using them.

Words. I love to read. I love to write. My voracious reading has quite literally provided my unconscious mind with a massive arsenal of ideas and competence with turning concepts into communications.

As a Songwriter, I combine words and music. I take 2 things and transform them into one thing.

I can literally sit down to a blank page or a camera not knowing what I’m going to say and just open up the “channel” and the words flow out. THAT didn’t happen overnight.  But it definitely happens because of the kind of focus I enjoy.

Healing. Over the years I have been absolutely fascinated with the ability of human beings to transform lack of health and vitality into abundance health and vitality. Again. Transformation.

Pursuing that area of interest I’ve apprenticed myself to an energy healer, an herbalist, as well as the top hypnosis and NLP teachers in the world. I also added a precision change model called Time Line Therapy(tm) to the mix as well as EFT (emotional freedom technique or “tapping).

Again, someone else might focus on just one of those modalities and do just fine. I, however, had to explore all of them… because I HAD to master them enough to heal myself. I had to heal myself enough to stop stopping myself from fulfilling my life’s purpose… Every time I worked with a client and didn’t get the result we wanted, I went back to the drawing board and expanded my knowledge and skills and tool set so that I could constantly get better.

Gardening. I used to help other people with their gardens. One day I just had the realization that I loved to grow stuff. I loved growing my own food. I loved planting seeds and watching them grow. In some ways its the same as the great joy I’ve had watching some of my NLP clients and students grow into their greatness by applying the ideas I taught them.

I used to feel deeply frustrated by the fact that I just could not seem to give 100% of myself to any one of the areas of my life I was fascinated with. Because that concept of “focus” meant I had to give up something that I loved.

But when I “chunked” up to TRANSFORMATION,
Boom! Pow! Cowabungah! It all came together.

And while this coming together has taken awhile, a lot of it happened right here in front of your eyes on the Daily Mind Mastery newsletter.

Now.
I told you all that, to tell you this:

There is an immutable law of the Universe that is totally and completely trustworthy:

We get what we focus on.

Your neurology is hardwired to be able to focus on only one thing at a time.

If you focus on how bad everything is. Guess what. You get more “bad”.
If you focus on how good everything is. Guess what. You get more “good”.

But the very nature of “focus” is flexible.

Here’s what I mean:

You can focus your camera on something close like a person’s face or a single flower… or you can even get a specialized camera that can take microscopic photos. That’s one kind of focus. In NLP we call it, “Chunking Down.”

if you’ve been paying close attention to the typos in my newsletters and blog posts, you may be good at chunking down,  the details focus.

or You can focus your camera on a big picture item like a sunset or a distant mountain range.

Either one is still focus.

In Robert Greene’s fabulous book, “Mastery” he contrasts the strategies of two different Masters.

  1. Indian born V.S. Ramachandran, found that he was always happiest when he went deeper and deeper and deeper into a single field of study. As  kid, he started with sea shells and dove so deep into sea shells that he became a leading expert on sea shells. in other words everywhere he looked he would see shells! ;o) (can’t resist a good pun). Eventually he took this way of learning and being in the world to a field of science that was literally untouched, the study of phantom pain experienced by amputees in their no longer existing limbs. That’s the “chunked down” focus. And it works fabulously if that is your inclination.
  2. Then there is the big picture focus of a Leonardo DaVinci or a Buckminster Fuller. They looked everywhere for their learning and began to bring different elements together in unique ways. Some of their ideas were ahead of their time. Leonardo studied the flight of birds as much and with as much passion as he experimented with new kinds of paints and pigments. Buckminster Fuller invented an electric car way before its time as well as the geodesic dome which is still a significant architectural form. Those guys demonstrate the “chunked up” form of focus.

The thing is I used to beat myself up for not being the chunked down kind of person. That’s like a labrador retriever beating itself up because it can’t stop retrieving tennis balls. We need to accept and maximize our native strengths and inclinations. Beating ourselves up for ANYTHING is a waste of energy and a wrong use of “Focus”.

Probably there are those of you out there reading this who may have been beating yourself up for not being the way your aren’t.

Did that make sense?

Let me say it another way. They way you focus the best is the best way for you to focus.

The bottom line is you ARE always focused on SOMETHING. Is it supporting you or stopping you from who you really came here to be?

The more you can practice focusing your mind on who you really want to be, and what you really want to do and who you really want to be with, the more you will get THAT.

I’m sure there are tons of scientific studies I could quote about that but I would prefer if you did a little study of your own….

TODAY. Your assignment. Should you choose to accept it.
Is to

  1. Notice how you focus best.
  2. Consciously focus in that way on what you most desire. Without pressure. without desperation. just hold easily and lovingly in your mind what you most want to be true for your life, your work, your relationships, your health, your vision for a life well lived.
  3. Write down any ideas or insights or confirmations that you get.

Got it?

Good.

Glad we had this little tawk.

The really important thing is just to be fully aware that you can realize the change you’re looking for…

Replace “Perfection” with “Practice”

April 13, 2016 by Mark Shepard

309 be patientHuh? OH!

Well HELLO there my beloved Transformation Nation!

Yesterday’s live test of the Transformation Nation Broadcasting Network on ConcertWindow.com went pretty well.
The sound even seemed to work…

(some of the time LOL)

I was able to download a video this morning of the entire show but the audio on the video disappears before the last chorus of my first song!

So the lesson is: Set up camera #2 to record the broadcast for the archives!

The turn out was small (which was perfect since it was a “test”) but I was able to definitely check out the Concert Window system. Merrill from Colorado sent me a message in the “chat” window and someone even sent me a “Tip”…

(ok it was my dad! Thanks dad!).

So we are all set for next week’s OFFICIAL kick off of my Transformation Tuesday Series.

Whew! Thanks for letting me share that. I “get” why most TV shows are pre-recorded. “Live” has a certain weird PRESSURE to it. But I used my Transformation Tools and grounded myself and just leaped.

COWABUNGAH! Ah Who AHHH! etc.

So today, being Wednesday, I wanted to give you some MASSIVELY useful VALUE to help you dance through your day…

So here it is. Are you Ready?

Practice.

It’s ALL practice.

EVERYTHING is practice.

There is no “Perfect”.

Ever hear someone describe themselves or someone else as a “perfectionist”?

The truth is those people are NOT “perfectionists” they are “Imperfectionists” they are always focused on what isn’t perfect. And NO! I’m not talking about YOU. You don’t do that do you? This is just a REMINDER of what you already know right? :o)

We all have the ability to think critically (in the best sense of that word) and to be able to constantly improve our performance in any area of our lives, that’s good. What’s not so good is the habit of tearing ourselves down or getting upset if things don’t work out right away the way we think they “should” (BTW “shoulds” and “have to’s” often need to be challenged).

That’s where the practice of PRACTICE comes in.

It’s all practice.

I am a “Certified NLP Master Practitioner” Not a “Certified NLP Master Know It All”. In fact the reason I continue to teach and certify other practitioners in NLP and Hypnosis is that by teaching it I continue to LEARN it. Better and better. But still not perfect.

And that’s…. Perfect.

I make mistakes all the time while I’m playing music. I screw up my own damn songs sometimes. Wrong chords. Mix up the verses. Not remember words. Forget to tune my guitar… Say something that I might wish I hadn’t said. Not said something I “Should” have…. blah, blah, blah.

In the past I would spend a huge amount of energy “beating myself up” for the mistakes.

The transformation in my own thinking is that now it AMUSEs me when I am not “perfect”.

That took practice.

Keep making those “mistakes” eventually you’ll get the art of turning “failure into feedback”.

After all, What if THIS is perfect? Ask yourself THAT question throughout your day and notice the difference.

So. Your assignment today (should you choose to accept it) is to Ask that question about EVERYTHING.

“What if THIS is perfect?”

Seriously ask it All day. Be assured, you won’t get it right the first couple of hundred times… but eventually you will start to deeply enjoy your humanity and the PROCESS of learning, growing and improving as much as you can with the time, talent and resources you bring to your life.

BOOM! ding!

Of course I could have probably said all that better but it’s time to move on to the Transformation Tune of the day. :o)

Song # 309 “Be Patient With Your Drumming”

Have a FABULOUS day!
