First things first!
(Then some other cool stuff for you as you scroll down)
As you may or may not know, the very reason I learned NLP and Hypnosis was because I for the life of me could not seem to get my original songs out into the world to the actual people who most appreciate it…
(Shyness, social anxiety, performance anxiety / stage fright etc. Been there. Done that. )
Thanks to my Personal Mind Mastery tools, I’ve made progress. These days, I’m deep in a huge project called, “A Life In Song” where I am recording and sharing as many of my 500 plays songs as I humanly can.
The song I just released this morning for that project triggered some thoughts about moving from Shy to Bold… So I thought I’d riff off of it and share both the music and the message with you today! Here’s the song (you can click the links in the player to read the lyrics or download or share)
It contains the line,
“I never thought that I could be so bold, I found my diamonds in the road…”
I don’t know if you struggle with this or not but most of my life I was… um…
how do I put this? (What pops in are not a “nice” words in my vocabulary)…
“Tentative”…
“Hesitant”…
“Shy”…
“Fearful”…
I was the guy at the middle school and high school dances hugging the wall… In fact I never went to
my High School prom.
I went to the UN with my church youth group for a peace conference instead… (told you I was a bit odd LOL)
But at a certain point in your life don’t you just want to bust out of the old ways you “used to be” and play with being bold? I mean, what would it be like to try it on for a little while to see how it feels?
What would it be like to totally RE-INVENT yourself to be more and more who you would love to become accustomed to being?
Looking back over 40 years of writing songs that I basically never sang to anybody, it strikes me what a supremely perfect challenge it was (and still is) for a self identified
“Massive Introvert”
to compulsively engage in an art form that DEMANDS other people! Songs are really a partnership between artist and audience.
When you think about it, if a song is never sung, recorded or transcribed into sheet music…
It basically doesn’t exist…
At least a painting “exists” outside of it’s creator… but a song unsung? Gone. Poof.
I’ve been reflecting lately on how to best integrate this “art form” that seems to demand that I show up and allow the “muse” to come through me…
but seems to also “force” me (in a wonderfully healing way) to keep working on opening up the channels to people who value, appreciate and understand it enough to allow the songs into the most intimate space…
Between YOUR ears.
What’s going on between your ears and my ears… matters.
A wonderful Transformation Tribe member from the UK, Jason, wrote me recently and described in a beautiful analogy that our thoughts affect our body in much the same way that food does.
My name is Jason and I’m writing to you all the way from the U.K.
I came across one of your videos a few days ago by chance, and
what you said in those couple of videos was a total epiphany
moment for me. So I would like to begin by saying thank you 🙂…The epiphany moment from you was realising that whatever
thoughts I put into my mind my subconscious would react to,
it can’t tell the difference. Just like the body, whatever
we put into our mouths and consume the body has no choice
but to process. If we put healthy fresh, colourful things
in it will process all the goodness and nutrients, if we
put stodgy, fatty unhealthy food in it has no choice but
to process that too, so we choose what we want our bodies
to process just like our minds.I have been asking myself 100’s of positive why questions
every day and can already see how that is so much healthier
for the subconscious. It totally changes your perception of the event or situation,
it’s an incredible tool. It’s like the ‘whacking’ games at
arcades. I’m ready with a mallet to bat down any negative
thought that pops up, and it’s a game that is constantly
running but I always have my mallet (positive why question)
to hit it away with in a split second…-Jason
P.S. I don’t know if you have noticed, but the journey you
are on and the progress you have personally made is blindingly
evident if you look back on this video from 2008.You seem 10/15/20 years younger now then you did 8 years ago. The
way you dress, your energy, your whole aura is different.
Just thought I would point that out as a mark of your own progress.
Wow! Thanks Jason! Rock on brother!
(BTW I would love to hear YOUR story as well so use the contact link at the bottom and share it ok? YOU can inspire ME as well as the rest of the Trance-Formation Nation gang. )
So it makes sense to be careful about what goes into your mind (as well as your body).
Not all my songs are positive and healing… But this one just might be…
I’m not sure even what it’s really about… feel free to give me your ideas…
Looking back I can see that my dream from 1976 of sharing my music with the world from the comfort of my own home has now become a reality! Deep gratitude for the INTERNET! People all over the world are singing my “Together We Can Change The World” Song and I didn’t have to visit them personally :o) LOL
So to YOU, my action taking, intelligent, creative, loving, learning, Transformation Nation member…
…Enjoy your opportunity to become who you want to become!
Move YOUR dream forward just a little bit today…
You don’t have to be TOTALLY BOLD about it. But you can carefully, gently, lovingly, be a little bit bolder… about taking your passions and preferences, yearnings and talents out into the wider world… one small step at a time…
COWABUNGAH!
Love,
Mark
