Acclaimed author Michael Pollan shares a few key reasons why eating French Fries is hazardous to your health.
So aside from these facts:
- They turn instantly to sugar in your body
- They are fried in unhealthy oils
- Are heavily salted (so that you get thirsty enough to drink a large soda)
Pollan points out a few things the general public is blissfully ignorant of:
- They support an unsustainable agriculture system that REQUIRES extremely toxic pesticides. In fact they are so toxic that if something happens to the irrigation equipment the farmers have to wait 5 days for it to be safe enough to venture in to fix it.
- After harvest the potatoes have to be “outgassed” in order to be supposedly “safe” to eat.
- The “engineers” of this food have also made it so addictive with it’s combined, salt, sugar and fat, that you keep coming back for more.
