Do you remember the children’s book, “The Little Engine That Could”?
This little train engine gets a lot of crap from the other engines because he’s so small. But one day he is called upon to pull the longest train ever.
And he uses advanced mind mastery techniques
to make it up a huge hill…
He chants, “I THINK I can. I THINK I can.” Over and over…
Then there was another book I remember from childhood, “Little Toot” and it’s basically the same story but set in the TOUGH London tug boat “scene”.
And Little Toot, who EVERY big tug boat discounted, manages to pull a huge ship to safety.
Our kids stories often teach us grownups some powerful life lessons. But they necessarily compete for neurological space in our minds with what we hear MORE of on a daily basis:
- The “can’ts”
- The “shoulds”
- The “have-tos”
- The point by point reasons why it “won’t work”
And meanwhile our spiritual thirst for greatness starts to give up and “settle” for less than we are capable of.
THAT shit has to STOP!

Ask yourself, “What can I do right now?”
“What small thing can I do right now that will move me forwards?”
And then check in with yourself. How did that feel? Notice if you want to naturally do just another couple of things. If you feel like it, go ahead.
This is about YOU. This is about YOUR LIFE. This is about YOU TAKING BACK your POWER from all the nay sayers and “well meaning” saboteurs “out there”.
This is about YOU TAKING BACK YOUR POWER from all the INNER saboteurs as well.
Doing just one small thing sneaks in under the radar of the helpless, hopeless, victim thinking that MOST of us have unconsciously internalized. And in my decades of working on my own “stuff” and helping other people work on “their stuff” what I discovered over and over and over again is this:
It’s our OLD thinking patterns that are causing MOST of our pain, frustration, “failure”, “lack” and “heart ache”.
Today. Do just one small thing to “kaizen” that old pattern.
