Cowabungah Book Review:
“Quiet:
The Power of Introverts
in a World
That Can’t Stop Talking”
by Susan Cain
This is one of those books that I just happened to stumble upon. It has it’s basic premise that we introverts are pretty cool just as we are. Even though the extroverts “seem” to be having a lot more fun and wielding a lot more power, introverts, when allowed to have their quiet and space, produce superior work.
Try to imagine the great artists of history working in a “team”.
For me the more I give myself permission to spend large chunks of time alone working on my projects, music, painting, blogging, reading, researching, building courses, going for solitary walks, etc., the more I am relaxed, confident and outgoing when I do venture out into the public realm. Once I reach my threshold of stimulation, it’s time to head back to the “Quiet” of my own space and company.
The bottom line is as an NLP practitioner, I have NEVER been asked to help an extrovert to “convert” to introversion. I HAVE helped numerous introverts to either increase their enjoyment of other people, learn how to manage social vs. solitude time better, or to unapologetically design their lives in such a way as to minimize the situations that stress them out and MAXIMIZE the situations that BLISS them out.
Either way YOU are perfect just the way you are!
You might even be BETTER than you thought you were.
This book is a keeper.
